Yet another Quebecer has drowned, this one a two-year-old boy who was found lifeless in a residential swimming pool at around 3:35 p.m. Thursday on des Colibris St. in Ste-Anne-des-Plaines, in the Laurentians.

Like the drowning earlier Thursday in St-Remi, this drowning also occurred in an above-ground pool.

Adults on the scene attempted to resuscitate the child. Their efforts failed and the child was pronounced dead at 4:45 p.m. at the St. Jerome Hospital.

The drowning is the 44th in Quebec this year, well above last year’s rate. It’s the second to occur within the jurisdiction of the Terrebonne police department.

Ste-Anne-des-Plaines is a town of about 15,000 located 40 kilometres north of Montreal.
