The driver of an 18-wheeler is in hospital after driving off the road about 15 km west of Drummondville.

Around 2 a.m. on Highway 20 the truck went off the road, over a ditch, and into a field where it finally came to a stop upside down.

The driver was pinned in his cabin until firefighters used hydraulic jaws to rip the cab apart and get him loose.

He was taken to Drummondville hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Emergency responders think the truck driver, a 53-year-old man from St. Hyacinthe, fell asleep at the wheel.
