Treasury Board President Martin Coiteux, who serves as Liberal MNA for Nelligan, wants explanations from some of his colleagues concerning their spending.

Coiteux has asked for explanations after several MNAs submitted lofty renovation bills for their offices, which includes a $173,365 renovation job to the 2,300 square foot office Laval riding office of MNA Francine Charbonneau.

Coiteux also asked for an explanations concerning a $278,000 office reservation for junior Transportation Minister Jean D’Amour at his riding office in Rivière-du-Loup.

Coiteux has also called the Quebec Society of Infrastructure (SQI) onto the carpet. Coiteux wants chief Luc Meunier to provide a review of the SQI spending and policies over the last few years. 

A total of $686,667.09 was spent on repairs to riding offices of 27 members of the Cabinet since the April election, according to a document the SQI sent to The Canadian Press,

In contrast, the PQ spent $502,000 for renovations after it took power following the 2012 election.

D'Amour leads the spending with $278,746.59, Charbonneau follows at $173,365 and Premier Philippe Couillard came in third with $90,675 spent at his riding office in Roberval.

Fourteen ministers did not claim any renovation costs, including veteran MNAs Sam Hamad and Jean-Marc Fournier,
