MONTREAL--The long weekend could make for hectic driving in and around the city.

Paving work on the Mercier Bridge will snarl south shore traffic, with both inbound lanes closed over the weekend from Friday night to Tuesday morning.

The 15 highway will be closed near Boisbriand as engineers demolish a structure that crosses over the highway.

Finally, Montreal’s traffic achille’s heel: the Turcot interchange.

“In the Turcot interchange, what will take place is a closure of the 15 north. That will start Saturday evening until Monday at noon. The closure will start after the de la Verendrye exit, so people coming from the Champlain Bridge will still be able to move,” said Caroline Larose, a spokeswoman for Transport Quebec.

“If they are going towards Decarie they will need to find an alternative route.”

A number of other lanes will be closed on the Turcot interchange, Montrealers are advised to steer clear of the structure.

Transport Quebec says it will be hoping for sunny weather over the Canada Day break. If Montreal gets little precipitation on Friday evening, some of the more disruptive lane closures could be avoided or minimized.
