Traffic continues for yet another day in Cote-Des-Neiges. The infrastructure work at at the intersection of Cote-St-Luc road and Decarie Boulevard is still not finished.

Borough mayor Russell Copeman said on Monday that everything was going to be cleared up by Tuesday morning at the latest. But another setback is delaying that promise. In a tweet, he expressed his frustration:

City of Montreal spokesperson Philippe Sabourin explained that urgent repairs on Bell Canada cables will force the work to go on until Tuesday afternoon.

The equipment was supposed to be removed and the lanes repaired for Tuesday morning after major work for a new water main. The work is an extension of work that began last November.

The new water main will serve 100,000 homes in Cote-St-Luc, Montreal-West and Notre-Dame-de-Grace.

The work began last fall in 2014, but city workers found a big problem: a 20-cubic cement block that wasn’t supposed to be there. The contractor at the time had to terminate work and they have only been able to return in January 2015.
