The two people shot in a Terrebonne lawyer's office have died, police have confirmed.

Marie-Josee Sills, 30, and Benoit Cote, 51, died after they were shot before 6 p.m. Thursday outside the offices of the Coté-Gosselin law firm at 1000 Montée des Pionniers St.

The victims rushed to Le Gardeur Hospital just one block away and as of Friday afternoon they remained in critical condition. Police confirmed Saturday afternoon that they had died of their injuries.

The homicides come as police are investigating three other deaths at a family home in Boucherville they believe are linked.

The victims in that home have been identified as Michel Dubuc and his two sons, Gabriel, aged 19 and Jeremie, 21.

Shortly after 12:30 a.m. Friday police received a 9-1-1 call from Gabriel and Jeremie's mother, who was worried about the family living in the home.

Officers arrived to find three bodies inside the house at 1179 De Blois St. but had to leave because the house was on fire.

They summoned firefighters to put out the flames, then went in to further investigate the bodies of three adult men, but so far cannot determine exactly how the three people died.

"What we know up to now is that one of the people inside the house -- one of the victims -- seems to have left the house at night and when he came back set the house on fire before committing suicide," Lacroix said.

Lacroix said investigators found a large quantity of fire accelerant in the home, leading them to believe the fire was set deliberately, "but that remains to be determined."

Traces of flammable liquids were found at the house in several rooms, including a bedroom.

Autopsies are being scheduled to determine exactly how the men died.

Police confirmed that Dubuc had more than two firearms in his home.

One neighbour said her daughter, who was friends with Gabriel, was "traumatized" by the deaths.

Link to double shooting

On Friday afternoon an officer from the Sureté du Quebec said the shooting of the lawyer and an employee in Terrebonne was linked to the three deaths in Boucherville.

"What we can say at this point is it's related, the person we were looking for in Terrebonne is actually one of the people who was found inside the house," said Sgt. Martine Asselin.

At this point, police are operating under the belief that one man went to Terrebonne and shot the two people in the lawyer's office, then returned home to Boucherville and committed suicide.

Court documents show that Dubuc was suing the law firm and one of the people shot for $1.2 million. The documents reveal that Dubuc worked in construction, but friends say he recently often spoke of playing the stock market.
