Sherbrooke St. is closed between Mackay St. and De La Montagne St. until at least Monday Oct. 24.

The city of Montreal began work on this stretch of Sherbrooke St. on Friday morning and work will continue throughout the weekend.

The original plan called for work to be done around the clock and to wrap up Monday morning, but the city is now saying work will only take place from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. which may extend the number of days needed.

Crews are repaving the street and doing other work around the Fine Arts Museum and Concordia University.

The sidewalks will be open, allowing residents, shoppers and store owners access to all buildings.
