A 28-year-old man faces a series of charges following the kidnapping of a young woman in Terrebonne Wednesday evening.
A 21-year-old employee of the Blu Sky Tan salon on Laurier Boul. in Terrebonne was taken from her workplace Wednesday night, where she had been scheduled to work until 10 p.m.
The suspect, who was apprehended at around 5 p.m. Thursday, will appear in court Friday morning in St. Jerome to face charges relating to kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault and for holding the victim against her will, according to Sgt. Claude Denis of the SQ provincial police.
The ordeal was brought to police attention when the owner of the salon arrived Thursday morning at the ransacked business and called police.
The victim was discovered after she walked out of a wooded area near the salon on Thursday at around at 12:30 p.m.
She was brought to hospital where she was treated for serious head injuries, which were deemed non-life-threatening.
Provincial police combed the area on foot, with sniffer dogs and in a helicopter in hopes of locating one or two suspects.
Late Thursday afternoon, they announced that the 28-year-old man had been taken in for questioning.
They would give no details concerning his identity but an official told CTV Montreal that the man was not closely acquainted with the victim.
Investigators sought clues in a car left near Rodrigue and St. Michaud - about two km away from the salon - in hopes of finding evidence.
