A 16-year-old boy escaped relatively unscathed after a brush with a train in Pierrefonds Wednesday night.

The teen was on his bicycle as he reached the train crossing on Gouin Blvd. and Meighen St. around 7:30 p.m.

Though the bar was down and the lights were flashing, the man decided to cross the tracks anyway. Because he was wearing headphones, he didn’t hear the train’s blaring horn.

Fortunately for him, the Deux Montagnes train was travelling at a very slow speed as it had just left the station.

The cyclist suffered only minor injuries to his lower body. He was transported to hospital.

The AMT train that hit the cyclist was the 955. That train was cancelled and passengers were transferred to the 957. Tracks are clear and moving at this time.

(A previous version of this story referred to the boy as a man in his 20s, based on an initial police description.)
