Montreal police arrested a 24-year-old man Thursday afternoon in connection with a murder in Cote-des-Neiges that took place three nights earlier.
Rakib Ullah, 20, was shot in the head in an apartment at 5775 Cote-des-Neiges Rd., just north of Cote-Ste-Catherine Rd., at around 9 p.m. Monday evening.
The Montreal police's investigation was headed by the western division of the drug squad and by the major crimes unit.
That investigation led to a raid by the Montreal SWAT team in Laval at around 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon to arrest the suspect, who was still being questioned by the major crimes unit when police announced the arrest at 7:15 p.m.
The suspect, like the victim, is of Bangladeshi origin.
Ullah was in the apartment with several other people, including a woman and small children, at the time of the shooting.
He was brought across the street to the Jewish General Hospital, where he died of his injuries shortly afterwards.
This is the 23rd homicide in Montreal this year. There were 37 in the city all of last year, and 24 on this date in 2010.
