Police were called to a home in Pointe Claire Sunday afternoon after a man allegedly made threats to his family.

Police arrived at the home, at the Glenbrook Crescent Ave. and Braebrook Ave. around 4 p.m.

The family had left the home, but a 68-year-old man stayed behind.

Police say the man had several registered firearms in the house, so they called in the SWAT team for back up.

Neighbours in the area were evacuated as a precaution.

Around 7 p.m. police made contact with the man inside the house and he surrendered a short time later.

The man is in custody and could face charges.
