A fire in St-Leonard sent three people to hospital Wednesday afternoon, while a firefighter was also injured when debris struck his eye.

The fire broke out at 3:25 p.m. in a duplex at 5452 des Grandes Prairies Blvd. The fire forced residents in six dwellings out on the street.

Two men in their 50s were hospitalized, one with serious burns to his legs, while a 15-year-old girl was treated in hospital for smoke inhalation.

About 40 firefighters were called to battle the blaze, which was under control a little more than an hour later.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
