A driver trying to pass a Sûreté du Québec vehicle sent the patrol car into a ditch near Drummondville Thursday night, injuring two officers.

The incident happened in Saint-Liboire in the Montérégie at about 10:30 p.m.

The driver was travelling at high speed and attempted to pass the patrol car in front of him. When he got to the point of overtaking police officers, he lost control, forcing the officer driving the patrol car to swerve to avoid collision. The SQ car landed in a ditch.

Two officers were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The speeding driver was arrested and released on a promise to appear in court on one count of dangerous driving.
