Montreal’s Pierre Elliot Trudeau International airport is boasting a “new high” in their numbers-- an 11 per cent increase in airport traffic in the year’s second fiscal quarter, with some 4.4 million passengers coming through over the last three months.

Consolidated revenues amounted to $138.9 million for the second quarter of 2017, an increase of $11.7 million, or 9.2%, over the same quarter of 2016. The improvement, officials said in a statement, is attributed to passenger traffic as well as revenue from commercial activities.

However, statistics reveal that operating costs for the quarter were up 9.9 per cent compared to last year, totalling $45.7 million

Aeroport de Montreal’s consolidated earnings were up to $138.9 million this quarter, approximately 9.2 per cent over the last year.

According to the statistics, there’s been a notable spike in traffic: international flights jumped by 17.5 per cent, domestic travel by 7.6 per cent, and trans-border crossings from the United States increased by 6.8 per cent.
