An employee at a West Island snow removal company has been fired after spewing anti-Semitic comments and making Nazi gestures.
A man in Dollard-des-Ormeaux says he was a victim of the racist tirade, and caught the incident on camera.
“He said, ‘Heil Hitler, Heil Hitler,’ said Harvey, who did not want to give his last name.
The man said he was shocked and scared.
“This doesn't happen. It has never happened to me my whole life,” he said.
Harvey said he was trying to flag down a snow removal operator in March when he says the employee gave him the finger, then the Nazi salute,
“This is an outward display of real racism,” he said.
Harvey filed a complaint with B'nai Brith and the Jewish service organization has contacted the police.
“(It is)inexcusable, unacceptable,, ” said Anna Ahronheim of B’Nai Brith. “You know this is 2013 in North America. We're not 1940's Germany. And the Holocaust memorial was just yesterday.”
Billy, who runs the company Snowbizz, said he’s sorry for the incident involving his employee, adding that the driver who made the alleged slurs has been fired.
“There is no reason for something to be said of that nature whether it's true or not. I apologize. I apologize to the Jewish community. I apologize to any other community who may be offended by his actions,” he said.
