A business in Trois Rivieres has removed its sign after a family member was charged with possessing child pornography.

Emballages Bettez stripped its sign from its storefront after Jonathan Bettez, 36, was confronted by an angry mob Tuesday as he made his way in and out of court.

Among those in court were the family of Cedrika Provencher, the nine-year-old girl who disappeared in 2007, and whose remains were found late last year.

Police questioned Bettez when Cedrika disappeared and did not recommend charges.

Nobody has ever been charged with Cedrika's abduction and murder and as a result emotions frequently run high when someone in Trois Rivieres is charged with a sexually-related crime.

The rage against the accused is also being expressed online.

Emballages Bettez has taken down all of its website except a stripped-down title page.

Meanwhile the company's reputation is being tarnished as people write dozens of terrible reviews online

Most of those 'reviewing' the company and calling for a boycott have never actually done any business with Emballages Bettez, and are just making snap judgments based on the criminal accusation.

Bettez is general manager of the company and sat on the Trois Rivieres Chamber of Commerce for several years. He was arrested at the store earlier this week.

On Wednesday, Bettez was dismissed from his job.

Emballages Bettez was founded by Andre Bettez more than 35 years ago. It supplies packing supplies to restaurants, heavy industry, and aerospace firms throughout Quebec.

Jonathan Bettez was in court Tuesday to be arraigned on multiple child pornography charges.

With no criminal record, he was granted bail of $5,000, and while awaiting trial cannot be near any location with children, and can only use the internet for work.

His next court date is on Sept. 28.
