Quebec escaped a torrent of rain, coupled with thunder and lightning, Wednesday afternoon as all thunderstorm watches and warnings were dropped across the province.

Earlier Wednesday, Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm warning for in southern Quebec.

The severe warnings stretched through the South Shore and Eastern Townships area, while watches were in place throughout southwestern Quebec, including Montreal, the Laurentians, Sherbrooke and as far as Quebec City.

Montreal has seen some muggy temperatures this week as high humidity has drifted in from the Atlantic Ocean in recent days.
