Four people are dead following a collision between a tanker truck and three other cars near Granby.

Three others were injured in the accident, one seriously.

The incident occurred on Highway 10, heading in the direction towards Montreal. Police say a car rammed the truck from the side, causing a fire that lasted two hours. The four occupants of that car became stuck under the tanker and did not survive.

Initial reports from police put the number of dead at two, which police say was due to the severity of the blaze.

According to police the truck driver suffered minor injuries despite the tanker bursting into flames.
