Four Montreal-area residents are among the 13 arrested in a sweeping RCMP drug bust targeting a group that allegedly smuggled hashish in from Pakistan and cocaine in from Peru.

Thee of the four locals were allegedly involved in trafficking the drugs, namely, Kenneth Slabotsky, 69, of Hampstead, Michel Perreault, 48, of Montreal and Jean-Pierre Bergeron, 59, of Verdun. Others rounded up on trafficking charges are Jacques Gabay, 62, of Saint-Sauveur-des-Monts, Alain Godard, 46, of Saint-Jérôme and Alain Gagnon, 46, of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts

The seven others facing smuggling charges are Louis Nagy, 54, of Kirkland, Alain Charron, 65, of Val-Morin, Robert Bryant, 63, of Wheatley, Ont., Steven Woods, 46, of Gore, Marco Milan, 47, of Caledon, Ont.,Yi Thong Savath, 44, of Markham, Ont. and Dean Copkov, 47, of Wasaga Beach, Ont.

The RCMP also recruited the Quebec and Ontario provincial police forces for the investigation, as well as the Montreal, Longueuil and Saint-Jerome squads.

Of the 13, Charron, Nagy and Woods had previously been arrested in different operations.
