Two Canadians moved on with impressive victories at the Washington Open Thursday.

Milos Raonic blasted 27 aces on the way to a 110-minute 7-6 (1), 7-6 (3), over Lleyton Hewitt in a match where neither player was able to break.

Fellow Canadian Vasek Pospisil also advanced to the final eight by surprising Tomas Berdych 6-2, 6-4 in just 81 minutes.

Santiago Giraldo, from Colombia is next up for Pospisil.

Raonic moves on to face the American Steve Johnson who beat ninth-seeded Ivo Karlovic 3-6, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (7).
