MONTREAL- Chemistry is essential in all team sports, but it is when two people have to move elegantly and display a range of emotions.

Nowhere is that better observed than in watching Dancesport champions Michel Finkelchtein and Diana Proskurin.

The dynamic duo easily show off their athleticism and connection on the dance floor, and most observers would never guess that they first met only two years ago.

Michel and Diana had been searching for new dance partners and managed to locate each other on a Russian Ballroom Dancing website.

The online connection clicked just as beautifully in real life.

"When I saw Michel on video I saw that he was unique and I saw that we could do a good work together," said Diana.

"When we're dancing you know we feel each other very well," said Michel.

The partners met for a tryout that went so well Diana moved to Montreal.

Now they are Quebec's top dancers, ranked third in the country, and have their hearts set on becoming world champions.

"I believe that the qualities that she has and I have kind of complete each other, which makes us a strong unit and that helps up achieve all our goals and really get to the top," said Michel.

Diana has been feeling homesick but is getting plenty of support from the Finkelchtein family.

"We see Diana like our daughter. Because I feel that and she feels that as well," said Leon Finkelchtein.

The Finkelchteins are originally from Russia and have been working hard to help her adjust.

"I respect her a lot for that to leave her home and go to another continent and country. She's definitely very brave to do that," said Michel.

That respect -- and the chemistry -- goes both ways according to Diana.

"He is a good friend and I like to dance with him."
