Longtime Radio-Canada journalist Isabelle Richer is in serious condition in hospital after a truck hit her while she was riding her bike in Rougemont  on Sunday.

Richer suffered injuries to her head and spine and will need months of rehab.

Her sister, who is posting updates on her condition on a Facebook page, says Richer is now out of a coma. The next step is to have her endotracheal tube removed, which will happen once orthopedists give the OK.

She has worked at Radio-Canada since 1998 as a justice reporter, where she's covered high profile cases including those involving the Hells Angels and Luka Magnotta.

It was announced in May that she and colleague Marie-Maude Denis would take over hosting duties of investigative program Enquete in September.
