QUEBEC CITY - A Quebec paralympic cyclist whose two racing bicycles were stolen just weeks before the Rio Olympics has one of them back in her possession.

Marie-Eve Croteau held a news conference in Quebec City this afternoon to say she is thrilled it has been found.

“I was very happy. The news brought a big smile to my face,” she said.

The 37-year-old athlete said on the weekend she thought her trip to Rio was in doubt after she discovered the theft Friday.

The bike that has been found is for road racing, while the one still missing is used for time trials.

She says the road bike needs "a bit of love" but has no significant damage.

Neither police nor Croteau are giving any details about how the bike was tracked down.

Quebec City police said there is still more work ahead for them.

“We're continuing the investigation to find the other bicycle and to find the suspects of this theft,” said police spokesperson Pierre Poirier.

Meantime Louis Garneau, who owns the company that built her bikes, and his team are customizing two new bikes ahead of the Paralympic Games in September.
