CTV Montreal Executive Producer - The thing in Quebec is that when push comes to shove you are either a federalist or a separatist.

It's one of those gut issues. I'm not sure you can have your feet in both camps, and that is a huge problem for former Pequiste minister Francois Legault who says his new coalition will be neither fish nor fowl. It is like being a little bit pregnant.

But Legault's bigger problem is that he doesn't have much in the way of anything new to offer.

This Coalition for the Future of Quebec isn't showing much in the way of game-changing public policy ideas.

Quebec is on financial life support. Public debt is spiraling out of control. Health care costs will only grow as one in three Quebecers fails to find a family doctor. Almost one-third of Quebecers drop out of high school. That's the highest in the Western World, let alone Canada.

The Quebec model is broken and cannot be fixed.

We need stronger medicine than this and leaders with the courage to do something about it, but no one has the guts to try to end this culture of entitlement and so-called "acquired" rights.

No one has the guts to take on the big unions and government bureaucracy,

No one has the guts to face reality

Francois Legault leads in the polls without a party or a program.

I think people are so disillusioned that Bugs Bunny would poll ahead of Jean Charest and Pauline Marois.

On second thought, "What's up doc?" might be a good campaign slogan in this province.

Money for circuses, not for bread

We have a government that thinks it is okay to put a new roof on the big O or to build arenas for millionaires, but doesn't have the slightest regard for the people who put the bad guys in jail.

The government's treatment of its Crown attorneys is reprehensible.

A special back-to-work law was totally unnecessary.

How many of the government lawyers have had enough and will leave?

Do you know who wins?

Organized crime wins. Biker gangs win.

Because the prosecutors are ill-equipped and understaffed and underpaid

The premier has always said he would not call a public inquiry into the construction industry because he prefers letting the justice system handle it.

This week he showed no faith in the justice system.

As a result criminals will walk free.

No respect at Heritage Classic

Why would they call it a Heritage Classic?

Last week's outdoor game in Calgary showed nothing of our heritage.

Would it have been too much for a few words in French in O Canada?

It was the Montréal Canadians playing in the showcase game of the year.

Talk about ignoring the heritage of how this country was built

What was equally galling was the performance of the American Anthem?

Two Canadian teams, in a Canadian city, celebrating Canada's game.

Maybe because the game was broadcast in the United States, and the NHL bends over backwards for anything American.

Somebody wasn't thinking.

Or even worse, perhaps they were.

Heritage? Not mine.
