Police and search crews continue to scour the Abitibi woods in a quest to locate 74-year-old Monique Langlois, a Montreal woman who went missing from a campsite near Palmarolle, Quebec 13 days ago.

“We conducted some more ground searches yesterday based on information we received but the results were negative,” SQ officer Benoit Coutu told CTV Montreal Friday.

Police have investigated a variety of hypotheses, including the possibility that the woman might have hitchhiked back to her Montreal home after last being seen on June 28 at around 9:00 a.m. but none of those leads have panned out.

Langlois recently purchased a trailer at the Rotary Camping site, where she joined her daughter, who has camped there for several years.

Langlois lives with a family member in Pointe aux Trembles but is originally from the Abitibi region, so she is believed to be sufficiently familiar with the terrain around the campsite.

Police are studying the possibility that the woman got lost in the heavily-wooded area near the campground.

Police say that there was no event which might have caused Langlois to disappear, as she had demonstrated no intention or desire to leave.

The provincial police have since distributed images of Langlois taken at a bank machine but those were taken prior to her disappearance.

Langlois stands 5'0" (1.52 m) and weighs 126 lb (57 kg) has red hair and brown eyes.

Anybody with tips concerning her whereabouts is asked to call the SQ at 1-800-659-4264.
