Surete du Quebec investigators are meeting with a man who may be the person who tried to kidnap a St. Constant toddler last week.

Police say a man was on a bike Wednesday when he approached a girl walking with her mother near Levasseur Park in St. Constant, about 25 kilometres south of Montreal.

The man grabbed the girl, put her on his shoulder and tried to take off, police say.

A passerby who heard the mother's cry for help stepped in and saved the girl, but the man got away.

SQ Sgt. Audrey-Anne Bilodeau said investigators are meeting a man Monday who may correspond to the description of the suspect.

Police are still looking for the man who intervened to get information from him as a witness.

The police are asking anyone with information to call their tip line at 1-800-659-4264.
