The SWAT team arrested an escaped prisoner overnight in Montreal.
The takedown happened around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday when police were tipped off that Claude Dorion was living in an apartment near the intersection of Viger Ave. and Amherst St.
Police staked out the apartment, then moved in. Officers say Dorion tried to run away but they used a stun gun to subdue him before taking him into custody.
He was taken to hospital for an exam after being stunned, under a heavy police guard, then taken to a cell.
Dorion has been on the lam since September when he overpowered two guards in St. Jerome while waiting for a medical exam. At that time he was in custody while awaiting trial on charges of belonging to a drug trafficking ring.
Police thought it was likely that Dorion would return to the Outaouais region, which was evidently not the case.
