The leader of the Parti Quebecois plans to meet with major economic actors in search of solutions for the economy, he told members of the PQ caucus in Rimouski Wednesday.

Pierre Karl Peladeau will meet with the Caisse de Depot, Hydro-Quebec and universities, he said, but won’t say if he'll meet with federalists or even McGill and Concordia Universities.

Peladeau told the PQ caucus the Liberal government lacks a vision for Quebec's economy, and that Premier Philippe Couillard has so far refused the PQ's suggestion to call an economic summit.

“As a premier I would not at all be obsessed with by only one segment, I’m sorry we can call it a P&L, a profit and loss statement, which is the expenses,” said Peladeau on the second day of the two-day event.

Peladeau wants the government to spend on job stimulus, “because at the end of the day the result of that is more employment, more jobs and also more revenues,” he said.

Port facilities, airports and Canadian military jets would be some of the federal assets an independent Quebec would want; PKP plans to lay out the whole wish list before the 2018 Quebec election.

“We will talk about independence, we will be able to be in a position to explain, you know, to the citizens of Quebec that we will enrich ourselves,” he said.

Peladeau admits the Bloc Quebecois' performance in the federal election in October is crucial for the PQ.

“We share the same objective,” he said.

The PQ has a major stake in the Bloc, said political analyst Jean Lapierre.

“Like the old three periods under Mr. Parizeau – federal election, provincial election and referendum – so if they blow their first phase it's not going to be pretty for their movement,” he said.
