A group of people decided to party-it-up on Mount Royal by having a drug-fueled dance party at the Mordecai Richler memorial gazebo Sunday evening.

Video that was taken during the festivities shows people drawing graffiti on the wooden floors with permanent ink.

Six police officers eventually walked through and made sure it stopped but the floors of the gazebo remain defaced.

The gazebo, located at the flanks of Mount Royal, was rebuilt to honour the Montreal writer’s memory but it took five years and $724,000 to complete it.

The new structure was unveiled in September and graffiti started to appear just one week later.
