The Montreal Canadiens have only five games remaining this season, and while there's not a lot to look forward to, there is one note of interest: whether Max Pacioretty or Alex Galchenyuk can get to 30 goals on the season.

Both have 27.

The Habs have only had two 30-goal scorers on a team in one season once in the past 20 years, when Erik Cole and Max Pacioretty both reached that benchmark in 2012.

This year, playing with each other, both Pacioretty and Galchenyuk are putting together strong numbers.

“We've kind of found success too with different guys on the right side,” said the team’s captain. “That's been a good sign for the team going forward as you have seen lines change often. I think if you can keep pairs together and move guys in and out, it makes for pretty good chemistry on a team.”

They played together earlier this year for two games unsuccessfully, managing no scoring chances. This time, they're getting a feel for each other, finding that elusive chemistry.

“We're sticking to the plan. There are games that are more difficult, but we stick with it and (Tuesday night) they were good and real effective on the ice,” said Therrien.

The Habs will eventually be required to find a top-flight right winger for their top 6, but right now, Paul Byron is doing well and complementing the Habs’ top snipers well.

“They’re just skilled players,” said Byron. “They're all over the place. I'm a fast guy and get pucks in the corners and I can use my speed to jump out in the transition for them, and out for them. I have been a skilled guy in Juniors and in the American League, so I think I can complement them a little bit.”

“He's a good checker,” added Therrien. “This is one of the reasons why we play Pauly with them, so those two guys could concentrate more on the offence. That's why I like to see Paul Byron with those two.”

The Habs are becoming healthy for the end of the season.

One month ahead of schedule, Brendan Gallagher and Daniel Carr will make the trip through Florida for the Montreal Canadiens.

The bonus the fans have been waiting for this entire season: Carey Price travels with the team through Florida. Therrien said he wants Price to be able to work out with goaltender coach Stephane Waite.
