One man was hospitalized for smoke inhalation after an apartment building caught fire in a Longueuil suburb early Wednesday morning.

Firefighters said they do not fear for the man’s life.

The fire broke out in an apartment located on the second floor of the three-story building on Mont-Royal St. in St-Hubert. While the fire was quickly contained, officials said the estimated cost of the damage was $100,000.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
