A home in Dollard des Ormeaux dubbed the "Pigeon House" is being torn down after five years of complaints from neighbours.

The empty home at 26 Pierre Trudeau St. was infested with pigeons, and the city has won the right to tear down the home after its owner passed away.

The owner's estate allowed for the demolition - good news to nearby residents.

"I'm happy, finally. It took almost five years to get something," said Jean-Pierre Fulginiti, who lived next door.

"It was a nightmare. We had pigeons flying around; they were doing their business in the backyard."

Neighbour Anne Boucher has bad memories of the site of the home over the past few years.

"It was called a pigeon coop... When it rained, because the house was white brick, you would have brown tears coming down the walls of the building," she said.

The owner's estate still owns the property, which the city said is worth between $100,000 and $120,000.
