A woman who says that she was attacked by a taxi driver has filed a request to sue the Montreal Police department, the Taxi Bureau and the provincial Transport Commission for $250,000.

Marie-Anne Legault said that a taxi driver made sexual advances toward her in Old Montreal on September 18, 2014.

Her lawyer, Leslie-Ann Wood, told CTV Montreal that her client is seeking $200,000 in punitive damages and $50,000 in compensation from the three administrative bodies for failing to fulfill their obligations.

Wood said that Legault’s previously complaints were met with a dismissive response.

The legal documents were filed at Montreal courthouse Tuesday and a court date is expected on April 27.

Provincial Transportation Minister Robert Poeti said he will investigate this case.

"On the part of the CTQ, the Bureau de Taxi de Montreal same thing, if you're not happy with something you're allowed to make a complaint," said Poeti.

"I'm going to check with the CTQ about that case but right now I don't have that answer but I'm going to look at it and come back to you."

There have been dozens of sexual assaults in Montreal taxis in recent years, with 12 reported in 2012, 33 in 2013 and 27 in 2014.

When a report by CJAD in February disclosed the rate, Montreal police said they had never warned the public because the number of incidents was considered low.
