MONTREAL - Finishing her shift at midnight, an off-duty Surete du Quebec officer was killed during a frontal collision on a rural highway near Rawdon on Thursday morning.

Heading north on Highway 125, the officer was driving around a curve on the road when a minivan moved into her lane. The officer's car was sent into a ditch.

Transported to a Joliette-area hospital, the officer was declared dead shortly after arrival. The driver of the minivan suffered minor injuries.

While the SQ is investigating, speed and alcohol do not seem to be factors in the crash. The officer was 30 years old.
