LONGUEUIL - The whereabouts of 38-year-old Victoria Chiechi has left many South Shore residents feeling uneasy.
Chiechi was last seen at a corner store in Old Longueuil at about 3:30 p.m. Friday July 20.
Witnesses said that she was spotted talking to an unidentified man at Mousseau and des Ormeaux and has not been seen since.
Police say that after she returned from the depanneur last Friday she told her family she planned to go for a bike ride that same evening.
And now both she and the bike are missing.
She had no money, extra clothing or identification with her.
Police are appealing to the public for help in locating the woman and trying to get a bead on the man she was talking to.
“We don't know, as of now, if he was a stranger to her, a member of her family or a friend, but that person right now is a good witness that we would like to speak with” said Longueuil police representative Patrick Barriere.
Depanneur manager Brandon Seo said he saw Chiechi every day, as well as her son and husband.
“My first thought was for her kid, poor kid, I too am the father of small kids,” said Seo.
“We don’t know yet what happened to her, but if she went with whatever man she met, it’s kind of scary, my wife and family all work here,” said Seo.
One nearby resident appeared unsettled by the disappearance.
“I find it sad because I pass here every morning and evening to get to work,” she said. “It makes you feel insecure.”
Missing posters have been posted around the neighbourhood.
Police note that Chiechi had previously left without alerting family, however, never for more than 48 hours.
