Montreal police took part in a dramatic arrest at a bustling corner of N.D.G. Thursday afternoon, apprehending Toronto murder suspect Justin Scott.

Armed police circled and apprehended Scott, 25, at the southwest corner of Sherbrooke and Girouard at about 3:30 p.m.

Journalist Adam Kovac, who witnessed the scene, said it appeared that an armed undercover police officer leaped out of an unmarked van to initiate the takedown.

Montreal police representative Manuel Couture told CTV Montreal that police had been informed that the suspect might be armed, which led police to employ tactics required in a high-risk operation. Scott, it turned out, was not armed and did not resist arrest.

Couture said that Montreal police were in constant contact with the Toronto force in making the arrest.

Scott is wanted in connection with the death of Linda Scott, 65, who was found dead in her Toronto apartment Tuesday.

The suspect is still in Montreal as police arrange his transfer to Toronto to face charges.

Scott is the second murder suspect to be arrested at Sherbrooke and Decarie this year after Dustln Lombardi, 27, was apprehended at the same intersection on January 23.
