One man was shot dead and two others injured in three separate violent attacks Saturday night.

A man in his twenties was shot and killed by multiple suspects in an apartment on Sherbrooke St. near 29th Ave in Lachine at 9:30 p.m.

The man was transported to the hospital, where he died of his injuries.

The man was not known to police, according to Montreal police representative Ian Lacoursiere.

The victim was shot at least once in the upper body.

Others inside the apartment with the man were in shock following the shooting, according to Montreal police spokesman Simon Delorme, which made questioning them difficult.

Police are also interviewing neighbours in order to discern what happened.

It is the first homicide of 2014 in Montreal. At the same time last year there were two murders in Montreal.

Investigators were still searching the crime scene as of Sunday at noon.

Man injured in drive-by shooting

Earlier Saturday evening two male suspects in an SUV opened fire on a man on Perras Blvd. near Elie Beauregard Ave in a drive-by shooting in Riviere-des-Prairies.

The 28-year-old victim was hit in the leg by at least one bullet, according to police.

The victim, whose injuries are not life-threatening, is not cooperating with police.

Police are canvassing the area and are asking anyone who may have seen what happened to call Info Crime at 514-393-1133.

Stabbing in St. Leonard

In a third violent attack Saturday a 27-year-old man was critically injured after apparently being stabbed in the upper body just before 10 p.m. in a residential area of St. Leonard Saturday night.

He was found by a passerby on the front porch of a duplex on de Nevers near Mance in the east-end borough just before 10 p.m.

Police say the injuries were caused by a sharp object. The victim does not live in the area, according to police.

As of late Saturday night, there were no suspects in the case.

The victim was in danger of dying during the night but by noon Sunday it was reported that he was expected to survive.

The canine unit had been called to the scene in order to help in the search for clues.
