MONTREAL—A woman in her 50s died on Sunday morning after the driver of the motorcycle she was riding lost control in the Ville-Marie tunnel and hit a pillar and a wall.
The man, 58, driving the motorcycle suffered serious injuries, with fractures to his arms and shoulders. His life is not in danger.
The accident took place around 1:15 a.m. as the motorcycle drove on the westbound lanes of the 720 highway near the Atwater exit.
According to Surete du Quebec inspector Daniel Thibaudeau, speed may have been a factor in the deadly crash. The highway was closed for much of the evening as investigators combed over the crash site.
When paramedics found the woman her heart was stopped. She was transported to a hospital where she was declared dead.
