MONTREAL - A Laval mother will likely face attempted murder charges after allegedly poisoning her seven-year-old daughter as well as herself Wednesday morning in what’s believed to be an attempted murder-suicide.
The young girl has regained consciousness and is now breathing normally. She will remain in hospital for a few days for observation.
Her father reportedly remained at her bedside all of last night.
Laval police confirmed Thursday morning that the mother, who is aged 35, has regained full consciousness and is now fully aware of what’s going on.
She will remain in hospital and will undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
Lawyers and prosecutors are meeting Thursday to discuss what charges will be laid against the woman.
Her husband said Wednesday that his wife had been suffering from depression prior to the event.
