MONTREAL - A woman and her seven-year-old daughter are in hospital after being found unconscious following an apparent murder-suicide attempt on Verone Ave. in Chomedey, Laval Wednesday morning.
The two were rushed to separate hospitals and the young girl is said to be in critical condition.
Police rushed to the scene early Wednesday after the woman’s husband found his wife and daughter lying in the basement near a bottle of pills, vomiting.
The couple's younger child was asleep nearby while their 10-year-old twin boys slept upstairs.
The mother apparently told police that she wanted to die.
“The mother would regain consciousness once in a while. She told us that she had taken pills and wanted to die. We couldn’t ask her about her daughter because of her state. Her daughter seemed to be in a very bad state,” said Laval police representative Nathalie Lorraine.
Neighbours told CTV Montreal that they were unfamiliar with the family and had rarely even seen them.
