Montreal police have been sent to a crime scene over 1,000 km away Tuesday, as they have been asked to investigate a shooting in Salluit in northern Quebec.
According to Kativik police, a 23-year-old man fired at police just before noon from a home in Salluit.
Police then set up a barricade outside his home.
Police saw smoke from the home and heard a gunshot from inside at around 2 p.m.
They entered the home to find the man dead inside.
A team of Montreal police officers were soon dispatched on the lengthy trip up north, as it is custom for different forces to investigate incidents involving police and shootings in Quebec.
