Over the past two weeks Montrealers have gotten used to driving on reduced lanes through the Turcot Interchange to Route 136.

For the next dozen or more weekends, they won't be able to do that.

From Friday evening until Monday morning, Route 136 will be closed from the Turcot Interchange to Notre Dame St. entrance east of Peel St.

The ramp from Highway 20 East to Route 136 will close at 11:30 p.m. Friday, while the ramp from the 15 South (Decarie Expressway) closes at midnight.

Greene Ave. will be closed between St. Antoine St. and Dorchester Blvd. as of 8 p.m. Friday.

"We will be dismantling a portion of the 720 East near Greene Avenue, so, all accesses to downtown via Route 136 or 720 East are closed," said Sarah Bensadoun. "We need to close four municipal streets, local streets, during those weekends that are planned."

Crews will spend weekends over the next several months demolishing three kilometres of the eastbound lanes of Highway 720. They will be doing noisy work from 6 a.m. until 11 p.m. at night on weekends.
