A young man is badly hurt after being attacked in his home in Rawdon overnight, about an hour's drive north of Montreal.

Police say that around 1:30 a.m. Monday several people made their way into a home on Vincent-Massey Rd. and pummelled the man, stabbed him, and then started a fire.

They then fled the scene.

Despite his serious injures the victim was able to leave the residence and go to a neighbour to seek help. He was then taken to hospital where he is in critical condition.

The motive for the vicious attack is not known.
