With a midweek holiday, many stores and services in Quebec and Montreal will be closed for Canada Day on July 1, 2015. Here is a partial list: 

City of Montreal offices, including Acces Montreal offices and borough offices, are closed, although the 3-1-1 service will be staffed.

Garbage, recycling and compost collection will take place as normal with the following exceptions:

  • Villeray-Saint Michel-Park Extension: Pickup of green waste rescheduled to July 6.
  • Outremont: Recycling rescheduled to July 2.

Municipal Court (775 Gosford St.) will be closed.

Parking meters and street parking signs are in operation.

Public Markets will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Bonsecours Market will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Ecocentres will be open.

Most sport and athletic centres, including the Claude Robillard arena, will be closed. Outdoor tennis courts will be open.

Libraries throughout Montreal will be closed on July 1.

Pointe a Calliere, the Biodome, the Botanical Gardens, the Insectarium, and the Planetarium will be open.

AMT trains will run on an altered schedule on the holiday. 

The STM will be running on a weekend schedule, and some bus lines will be altered.

The STL in Laval and RTL on the South Shore will operate on a Saturday schedule.

Banks and Canada Post offices will be closed for the day.

Most retail stores will be closed, though most SAQs will remain open, except those located in malls that are closed.
