Three pedestrians were struck by vehicles early Sunday morning in two separate incidents in downtown Montreal.

The first incident happened at 2 a.m., when a young man tried with a friend to walk along the Ville-Marie Expressway at Saint-Jacques St. He was hit by a taxi. Police say the man was drunk. He suffered serious injuries to his head and legs. He is in critical condition but his life is not in danger.

The taxi driver suffered from severe nervous shock.

Then around 3:15 a.m., a vehicle travelling on Notre Dame St. at Berri smashed into a parked car. The parked car then hit two pedestrians. The women were hospitalized. They suffered minor injuries.

The offending driver will be charged with driving while impaired causing bodily harm.
