MONTREAL - The Conference Board is expecting good things from Quebec’s economy in 2015 and 2016, thanks largely to exports and the U.S. recovery.

The Quebec economy will grow by 2.2 percent in 2015 and 2.6 percent in 2016, according to the Conference Board Provincial Outlook for Spring 2015, unveiled Thursday.

The organization is expecting exports to rise and household consumption to grow.

Households will have more money due to more jobs being created, partially a result of lower gas prices and family-friendly federal relief measures.

Conference board representative Marie-Christine Bernard predicted that Quebec's long-beleagured economy could rise to the middle of the pack. Bernard noted, however, that private investment remains low and construction is slow.
