Transport Quebec has issued an update concerning the overpass in Charlemagne where a tanker truck exploded Sunday afternoon, killing its 50-year-old driver and injuring two others.

The road is damaged for a stretch of about 200-300 meters, over the whole overpass of the 640 over Highway 40.

Crews are repaving the road and replacing damaage signage, as well as decontaminating the soil.

The sector was closed to traffic Monday night for repairs, which lasted until 4:30 a.m.

The emergency repairs continue tonight and the sector will be closed again Tuesday night.

Other closures might follow.

The road is otherwise open and safe, according to the Quebec Transportation Ministry.
