An arrest has been made in an 18-year-old cold case.

Real Savoie, 49, is accused in the murder of a 32- year-old woman in July of 1996.

Sonia Raymond was killed on a beach in the Gaspe, where she was supposed to attend a wedding.

Her throat was slit and she was found partially nude.

Savoie, who is originally from the Gaspe area, was questioned shortly after the murder.

Blood was found in his vehicle but authorities could not match it to Raymond at the time.

Police say they received new information that allowed them to move forward with the case.

Savoie was arrested Wednesday in Montreal.

Savoie had spent time in prison before the murder for sexual assault.
