Firefighters rushed to an eyecatching blaze on the roof of a condo building at St. Paul and St. Laurent Saturday at about 4 p.m.
Fat plumes of inky smoke were seen rising from the seven-storey building at 45 St. Paul.
The firefighters were alerted to the blaze by police patrollers who spotted smoke coming from the sixth floor of the building.
As a precaution, the four officers who spotted the blaze were transported to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation, as was a firefighter.
The fire was were extinguished after about 20 minutes.
