A home undergoing renovations was badly damaged by fire overnight.

The fire started at 12:30 a.m. at 689 Marie Anne Trottier St. in Terrebonne.

The two people inside the building were able to get out safely before firefighters arrived.

It took a crew of 25 about three hours to get the flames under control.

Damage to the home is extensive but difficult to judge, since the roof was being rebuilt and the house was having an addition put on.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
